In an interview with New Zealand magazine Onfilm, director Peter Jackson has expressed his hopes that the release of Halo 3 may renew interest from Hollywood studios in the Halo movie, which is currently on hiatus.
Last year, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures, which previously acquired the rights for the Halo movie, abruptly backed out of the project. The studios claimed the reason for stepping out was the movie’s budget, but the filmmakers revealed that the reason the studios exited was a discrepancy over the profit participation of Microsoft and the filmmakers.
The director of The Lord of The Rings trilogy and King Kong also said in the interview with Onfilm that he and partner Fran Walsh would work on the Halo movie only if Blomkamp is the director.
